Overview
Clopay Reserve® Wood Extira® is a paint-grade wood-composite door. Extira is dense enough to route, carve, and cut with deep V-grooves, arches, and custom shapes that molded Canyon Ridge boards cannot do. Four-layer build: Extira cladding/overlay, polystyrene-insulated Hemlock frame, and a 1/4" Luan interior backer. Official R-value is 5.9. Smooth, knot-free surface — paint only, not stain — including Color Blast®. Arrives primed or factory-painted. One-piece drip cap. True divided lites. This is the door for historic guidelines, odd sizes, and furniture-quality painted wood without real-wood maintenance.
Choose Extira when Canyon Ridge’s molded patterns are not custom enough, or when the job must look like painted millwork. It resists moisture, rot, and termites. It is not a stain-grade wood door — if you want visible grain, that is Reserve Custom or Canyon Ridge stain.

Extira or Canyon Ridge?
Canyon Ridge is molded composite over insulated steel (R-6.5 to 20.4) and can be painted or stained. Extira is a dense, smooth wood composite you can carve; paint only; R-5.9. Pick Extira for custom millwork and historic details. Pick Canyon Ridge for a stock wood look and higher insulation.
Can I stain Extira?
No. The surface is smooth and paint-grade. For a stained wood look use Reserve Custom (real wood) or Canyon Ridge / Ultra-Grain steel.
Can Overhead Door of America install a Reserve Wood Extira on my home?
