Clopay Coachman® looks like a swing-out carriage house door with modern overhead operation. Under the woodgrain-textured composite overlays is a four-layer build: steel, insulation, steel, and overlay. Insulation is Intellicore® polyurethane or polystyrene (R-values 6.5–18.4). Fifteen designs across four series, factory colors, and 1,500+ Color Blast® paints.

Every Coachman® door features a rust-prevention system with hot-dipped galvanized steel, protective coatings, and a baked-on finish for long-lasting color. Maintenance stays simple with a replaceable vinyl bottom seal that keeps out drafts and water. Safety is built in, too, thanks to the patented Safe-T-Bracket® and heavy-duty hardware. Removable window grilles make cleaning a breeze, and all insulated models use smooth-gliding nylon rollers and tough 14-gauge steel hinges for reliable operation year after year.

Coachman® lets you fine-tune your garage door’s look with a wide range of top section options. Prefer classic and understated? Choose from several solid top panel designs. If you want to invite more natural light or add a decorative accent, there are multiple window styles—rectangular, square, and arched—each available in different grid patterns.
For larger, double doors, special double-arch and window configurations make a big visual impact and complement wider facades. Every window grille is removable for easy cleaning, so your door always looks its best with minimal effort.
Coachman® gives you the flexibility to pick the right glass for your needs. Go with classic clear glass for an open feel and maximum natural light. If you’d like a little more character or privacy, choose from seeded, rain, frosted, or obscure glass options. Each type offers a different look and level of privacy, so you can find the perfect fit for your home’s style and your family’s needs.
All specialty glass is designed to look great and stand up to everyday use. Just keep in mind, certain glass styles may have limitations based on the window design you select. But no matter which you choose, you’ll get a beautiful, functional accent that elevates your garage door and your home’s curb appeal.
Sandtone Overlay/Desert Tan Base
Coachman® doors offer a curated selection of factory-finished colors designed to highlight the door’s carriage house details. Choose from classic combinations like White, Almond, Desert Tan, or Sandtone for both the base and the overlay or mix and match overlay and base colors for a custom look.
For more personalization, you can choose from Color Blast® and more than 1,500 Sherwin-Williams custom colors. This flexibility means your garage door can blend in seamlessly or stand out as a statement piece.
Just remember, dark colors (with a Light Reflective Value [LRV] of 12 or less) aren’t recommended for Coachman® doors and will void the warranty. For darker finishes, Clopay offers alternative product lines, and for colors with an LRV of 13 to 39, only approved paints should be used to maintain your warranty coverage. If you have any questions, be sure to talk with your local Clopay expert .

All of our Elite, Authorized, Master Authorized and Advanced Authorized Dealers offer a minimum 1 Year installation warranty on Clopay replacement doors.
No. Clopay does not allow dark colors (LRV 12 or less) on Coachman. Ask us about Canyon Ridge Elements or 4-Layer for dark carriage-house doors.
Yes. We are an official Clopay dealer. We measure the opening, confirm wind-load needs, help you choose color and windows, and install the door with a matching LiftMaster opener when you want one.
Yes. We specify rust-resistant hardware, proper weather seals, and WindCode® reinforcement where required. Insulated models also help keep an attached garage more comfortable in summer.

No. Certain steel garage doors with overlays like the Coachman cannot be painted black or dark colors. Clopay has a list of approved paint colors based on the Light Reflective Value (LRV) having an LRV of 12 or less. Light reflectance is given a value between 0 and 100. The lower the number, the darker the color. Black is usually close to LRV 0. Colors with an LRV of 13 to 38 require approved solar reflective paint.
